Get Your Florida Website Back in The Sun!
A Website nowadays is not cheap (and the cheap ones are still not good), so you want to get as much life out of them as you can. These simple hacks can breathe life back into a site and dust off some of the cobwebs that Google hates.
The Tampa Bay area is surprisingly competitive for business so a good website is really a requirement.
These are tips you could do yourself over the course of a weekend and get some real value out of the brand you’ve built.
Google loves “new” and rewards it with attention (ranking). Create new pages, add content to existing pages, dust off that blog and start writing regular content. You can’t just create some pages on your site a couple of years ago and expect to be number one in the rankings. It is not the people who built your site, its that they didn’t insist that you make it a living, breathing member of your staff.
Create or change calls to action
What do you offer that would make someone click on something or take any action on your site? Do you have buttons? Where are they? How are they performing? You might need to create some new reasons for people to click on. Signing up for your newsletter is so 2010, expecting people to go to your contact page and type something coherent is fantasy. Make it easy for someone to get in touch with you. Chat, click to call (remember that mobile thing?), and other elements can drive action.
What keywords are you trying for?
Your keyword strategy for the site you built in 2016 is likely not working today. Sorry. Do another round of research for what people are looking for and what is ranking well. You may even want to survey customers on what they searched for to find you. Can you update site content to match the keywords that are ranking well?
Images, videos (you have those right?), banners, and even color can lend a hand to take your site into this year and increase impact. Also, when you update all those images, make sure they are properly tagged and structured for SEO and make sure they are sized appropriately for high-resolution screens while being small enough in memory size to not slow down your site. Invest in graphics. Today, stock photography is easily recognized and puts you in a “commodity” category. Shots from your cell phone in your fluorescent office will turn people away just as quickly. Remember, every penny you spend is a marketing expense that can be written off on taxes (usually). Are your videos short and interesting? Do your videos and images tell a story? Do you have product shots, if they are over two years old, they should be updated.
Do you have the right year on the bottom of your website? Do you have the correct address and phone number? If you have a service area, does it say what it is (serving Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco Counties, whatever). If you have hours that you work with, put them in there, it can only help.
